So, I'm laying on the table in the ultrasound room, feeling nervous and scared, all at the same time. Wesley had a cancellation at the last minute and was able to join me. Thank God - I thought my only issue that night was having to hold in my pee!
The ultrasound technician moved her wand across my belly for a few minutes (and the silence was not golden). I had no idea what I was seeing on the screen, so I tried to remain calm and patient. About 10 minutes into the ultrasound, the technician turned to me and the conversation went a little like this:
Technician: So, you're very pregnant!
Robyn: Wow, that's great! I was a little worried ...
Technician: How pregnant do you think you are?
Robyn: About 6 weeks.
Technician: Yup, you're actually 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant.
Robyn: Fantastic! I'm so excited!
Technician: And you're pregnant with twins ...
THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!!!
And with that, I jumped off the table! I looked at Wesley and he was grinning from ear to ear. Then, I looked at the technician. I asked her if she was pulling my leg. She said no and asked if she should leave the room. I told her no and that I was in shock ... how was this possible? It was a shock for us to get pregnant so quickly, let alone to be pregnant with twins! I just couldn't wrap my head around the news. I laid back on the table, my head filled with thoughts. I wasn't sure how to react.
Then the technician showed me their heartbeats and I was in love
