A summer to remember ...

Wesley and I had an interesting summer to say the least. I turned 30 in June and embraced that 30 was really the new 20! We went on vacation in July to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. We were desperate for some much needed R&R. Unfortunately, didn't quite get what we bargained for ...

Long story short, we ended up getting very sick and overdosed on an anti malaria pill called Mefloquine. We were given the wrong prescription by our doctor and the pharmacist never caught the error. We were forced to spend the rest of the summer getting our lives back in order, which was not easy. Here are some photos from the trip!

In August, we celebrated our 2 year anniversary and decided it was time to discuss whether we should start a family. At this point in time, Wesley's cousin Kendra was pregnant and so was his sister MaryEllen. We knew that we'd never be fully prepared to take the plunge and decided it was best to just "go for it". Unfortunately, our doctors advised us that we couldn't get pregnant until the Mefloquine was out of our systems. We couldn't be more disappointed! It was 105 days of pure agony, but as soon as October hit - the countdown was on! We had no idea how quick it would take for us to get pregnant, so we tried to keep an open mind. That is until October 26th when I took a pregnancy test and found out that we may be expecting ...

We took another pregnancy test on October 29th and it confirmed that we were indeed pregnant, so we decided it was time to take a trip to our family doctor. Our doctor confirmed that we were pregnant, but she wasn't sure how pregnant we really were since my hormone levels were low. We were told to keep our news to ourselves until the dating ultrasound took place on November 13th.

That is when we found out the biggest news of our lives ...
